To the south of the house heading towards the chicken coop and property line, there used to be a small unleveled lawn area and a small garden. In order to make use of this space, we decided to terrace it five separate terraces. The original intent was to have one terrace for: lavender, roses, daphne, herbs and another small garden.

The planting design has changed over time as well. Some plants were not suited for this area and as all things within this property, it is ever changing. Some plants have been moved around until they find a spot that suits them. The next step is to help each one to grow into its new location with preventative pruning that helps to ensure the branching will be stronger for the future weather events.

I created all the walls in this area using local rock from Lynch Creek that has a blue tint when first installed that turns to bluish black as it ages. This is where I got to practice rock wall building before I went to back school to learn how to design these types of walls. I must say that after all years of working outside the USA and travelling to other countries I have seen many rock walls. I am still happy with these walls I build so many years ago.
